Burmese Gold-Leaf Black Lacquer Lidded Ceremonial Bowl

The conical lid surmounted by a knob finial and finely decorated in gilt with tightly scrolling foliage; the interior in cinnabar lacquer.
This type of ceremonial vessel is a daung-baung kalat and was used for presenting specially prepared perishable foods to the abbot of a Buddhist monastery.
