The Sacred Heart is one of the oldest Catholic images to be made into a painted medallion. According to legend, Jesus came down to St. Margaret Mary and expressed his desire for those who loved him to wear an image of His Sacred Heart. She and her friends made and wore the sacred heart badges and wore them.
