Elizabeth Cobbold

Elizabeth Cobbold (London, 1767– 17 October 1824) was an English poet and novelist. She published several books of poetry and novels. As the wife of a prominent brewer in Ipswich, she became a leading local philanthropic and social figure, holding Valentine's Day gatherings for which she made each guest a cut out Valentine attached with a verse, of which this is most likely one.
