Colefax & Fowler
Colefax & Fowler is one of England's pre-eminent decorating firms and antiques dealers known for a style that brings together the stateliness of English country houses with comfort and ease. Founded in the 1930s by Sibyl, Lady Colefax (1874–1950), John Fowler was made a partner in 1938, resulting in the change of name to Colefax & Fowler. Nancy Tree (later Lancaster) purchased the business in 1944, when the firm moved to premises at 39 Brook Street in Mayfair. Here Lancaster created her legendary yellow living room which continues to inspire and influence.
